After many hours of travel and dealing with customs, I found myself in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with my fellow Stretchies. This year, there are 14 of us traveling all over the West, from Canada to the Grand Canyon, to study the earth. Our fabulous glaciologist, Bob Hawley, gathered us all up and took us back to the hotel, where we relaxed and bonded over the 3-story water slide in the pool. Later that evening, we braved the flurries to go out to dinner in downtown Calgary. All 18 of us (professors and TA's included) filed into a downtown bar, where most of us ordered our first legal drink. Beers in hand, we chatted the night away, excited for the 10 weeks to come.
