Today we left Carl and joined Brian for a trek across the Basin and Range to get to California. I must say, the desert has the coolest sunrises. We drove up and down over Nevada, stopping along the way to talk about the extensional features and volcanism in the area. We arrived at the White Mountain Research Center in Bishop, California, where we will spend the next 8 days. It is a wonderful facility with a fabulous view of the Sierra Nevadas.
