Mapping the Poleta Folds

The history of compression and extension in the Owens Valley has led to very interesting geology. For the last two days, we set out to map the features of the Poleta Folds, located in the White Inyo Mountains. Although we only saw about 3 units, the folding of the Poleta marble was super complex, interacting with the crazy topography. We survived it, though, with decent maps to show for it.

Also, the drought in California is very apparent, as all the water bodies are showing significant decreases in volume.
